Updating the Blog - with Jenny

Well you can now see I have updated my blog page & feeling happy about it, thanks to Jenny for all your help.

Heather got my blog up and running and Jenny as helped me with navigating the blog. What great friends I have, your help as been very much appreciated.

As you can see I have managed to put my photo's on the blog of my new sewing chair, which I am very pleased.

And for those visiting my blog and wondering about my blog name and how I came about choosing it, sewing on a wing & a prayer covers all the things I enjoy.

Sewing - as you can guess I love sewing and creating things which I will share with you all in future postings.

Wing - This is short for Honda Goldwing Motor cycle, which I love being the pillion passenger with my lovely husband David riding. I will give you updates on all our adventures on the Wing. We are currently preparing for a journey in the coming weeks for a 5 week trip the long way round to Alice Springs, covering some 7000km, through QLD, NSW, SA & NT.

Prayer - I am a born again Christian who loves the Lord with all my heart. Prayer is a big part of my Christian walk. Looking forward to sharing with you some of the exciting experiences where the Lord has blessed me & my husband on our journey with him.

Getting ready for our next adventure: practice run with trailer making sure it's balanced and tracking well behind the bike. (trailer is a camper and I will post the pictures from our trip, so you can see the full set up) it's awesome.

Sewing chair restored

Original Chair from the second hand dealers $20 what a bargain. The first task was to glue the chair leg where a piece of wood had broken off. This was being held on by the yellow tape till glue is set.

The chair is now striped down, timber polished & castor wheels fitted.

I am concentrating on removing the tacks without chipping the timber. The chair had so many tacks and pin holes it must have been recovered many times.

New material, backing & wading being cut ready

Stapling the new material to the seat base, it was so easy using my husbands air compressor & staple gun.

The base now recovered and ready to be inserted back onto the chair.

I think it is coming up a treat. The weather is lousy but me & my husband David are having a ball restoring this chair.

Decided to make a pillow type padding for the back to make it easier for future recovering.
New back padding stapled on and ready for the new material. Nearly finished & having so much fun.

Chair finished and ready for use in my sewing room. All up including all material & the chair it cost just under $50. I think $50 well spent, it's magic.

Trying out my new chair, I think it's perfect just the right height with enough padding and back support to be comfortable.

My Girls Nikki & Missy in their usual spot when I'm in my sewing room.

Well if I say so my self, it was a great project for a rainy day with great results.

Sorry it's been a while, i've been busy

I know it's been a while since I last blogged, I have been quite busy making things.

This morning I decided I would try and add a picture on my blog and learn how to edit. Well with a great deal of frustration I eventually added the pic's YEH.  It's not so hard once you work out how and that was my problem. When we originally set up the blog I had my own computer, but now we are down to one (David's). So when I logged in the stupid computer would log under my husbands email address, so I could only look at my blog, it would not let me change anything or add. Because I am a computer dummy which I don't mind admitting, it took me a while to realize I had to sign out and  re log in under my email address. I thought it would have done that automatically when I opened my blog, but obviously not.

I will have to get the girls (Jenny , Heather & Wendy) to show me how to change the header and add a few things, that way I won't get too frustrated.

Yesterday me & my husband David was supposed to do some gardening, as we have plenty of weeding & pruning to be done. But the weather was not very good so we decided we would have to do something indoors. A couple of weeks ago I made a list of things that need doing around the house and placed it on the white board as a reminder. I let David know and said if he ever was feeling bored or had some spare time he could always check the list and maybe do one of the tasks. Imagine the shocked look on his face, but you know what it worked. He as already crossed off a couple of the tasks and also done a couple of things that were not on the list. He noticed as he was crossing off the tasks done I had been adding more and asked me was he ever going to get my list finished ? I promised him one day maybe, but you know theirs always something that needs to be done to maintain one's home. You know in doing the list it as been easier to get things done without having to nag. All jobs need doing, he just gets to choose which one to do first, giving him some self of control without feeling like he's being bossed.  But you know ladies I am blessed my husband is pretty good, he will do most anything for me, I only have to ask.

Getting back to yesterday, weather awful what to do? . We decided to do my sewing chair (which by the way was a extra task it was not on the list).  My friend Jenny got a new chair for her sewing, which I liked very much. Since I have just been made redundant I didn't want to spend too much, so buying the same chair as Jenny was out of the question. We decided to buy a second hand chair and do it up, this was so much fun. I cannot wait to show you all, the best sewing chair ever, well it is for me. I have taken some photo's of the before and after I just need David to show me how to load the pictures onto the computer, hopefully this afternoon. So I'm afraid you will have to wait to see the chair, but I think it is well worth the wait. I was a busy girl yesterday not only did I do the chair I also made a dress, I do believe it was a very productive day.

Well I will sign off for now but I promise to post the pictures of my sewing chair very soon.

The making of my Grand Daugthers Teddy Bear

The finished Product. Not bad if I say so my self.

Now the tedious  task of assembling

This is the back of the Bear

These are the arms

Constructing the head.

Here I am adding the ears to the head, very fiddly.

This is my first attempt at adding pic's to my blog. So I thought I would show you one of the things I made for my Grand Daughter Taylor. A decorative teddy bear, not very practical but very pretty and perfect for display in her room.

Shopping & Lunch with friends

Well after a long morning trying to create a blog with friends , which by the way was a lot of fun.
Out shopping we go, checking a couple of quilting shops, The Olive Tree & Sunlit Blooms. In between shopping we had lunch at La Porchetta's which was not the best. Food was average nothing to write home about and the waiting time was ridiculous. We counted 6 staff and only a handful of customers, but had to wait over 35 - 40 mins and that was for the lunch specials which should be quick & easy.  Thank goodness for the company it was great fun.

Heather & Barb dropped me back home where I was given strict instructions to do my blog profile & practise doing posts. I have managed to do the post, but as for doing my profile no joy. I have tried to attach a photo but no success, I will give it another go later when my brain is not so fuzzy. After the blog making, shopping & eating I am rather tired so will give the computer a miss before I get too frustrated and do something stupid like chuck it out the window. If you haven't worked it out by now, me & computers don't mix. If I cannot get it to do it right for me the first time I get cranky. But with the help from my friends (that's if they still my friends after this) I am hoping to master the art of blogging.

Looking forward to making new friends, sharing and seeing all the fantastic projects and having a great time with lots of laughs.

Michelle

Hi everyone

My very first entry of what I hope to be many. I am currently sitting with my 2 friends Heather & Barb creating this blog. I am hoping to make new friends who enjoy crafting & sewing.

Please forgive my late entry of a profile, as I haven't quite worked out how to create one yet. It will be here for you to view very soon.
